Ingredients (4 servings)
For the cabbage rolls
1 large white cabbage (approx. 1.5 kg)
500g minced meat (beef, pork or a mixture)
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon of flour
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 carrot, finely grated
2 to 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons fresh, chopped parsley
1 teaspoon of salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic granules
1 teaspoon sweet paprika powder
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 tablespoons of butter (for greasing the pan)
In the vegetable garden
2 to 3 medium-sized potatoes (approx. 400 g), sliced
1 large tomato, sliced
1 bell pepper, sliced
2 to 3 mushrooms, sliced
1 red onion, sliced
60g canned corn, drained
100g grated Gouda or Mozzarella
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt, pepper, garlic granules to taste
For decoration
Freshly chopped dill and parsley
Green salad as a side dish
Step-by-step preparation
1️⃣ Prepare the cabbage
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Remove the core from the cabbage head and place it whole into boiling water.
Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, then carefully remove each leaf individually (about 12 to 15 large leaves).
Cut off the thick ribs so that the cabbage is easier to roll.
2️⃣ Preparing the filling
Sauté the onion and carrot in 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes.
Add garlic, cook for 1 minute, then let cool.

In a large bowl, mix together the following: minced meat, eggs, flour, sautéed vegetables, parsley, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic granules.
Set aside for 10 minutes.
3️⃣ Shape the cabbage rolls
Place 2-3 tablespoons of filling on the underside of each cabbage leaf.
Fold in the sides and roll up tightly.
Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
Grease a large ovenproof dish.
4️⃣ Prepare the vegetable patch
Place the potato slices on the bottom of the bowl.
Season with salt, pepper and garlic granules and drizzle with 2 tablespoons of oil.
Then add tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, onions and corn.
Place the cabbage rolls on top with the seam side facing down.
5️⃣ Baking and Finishing
Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
Remove the foil, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake for 25 minutes until the surface is golden brown.
Let it rest for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving.
