The classic scenario of a visit to the dentist: an anxious patient in the chair, facing a possible procedure. When the dentist suggests the use of nitrous oxide, commonly known as "laughing gas," the patient reacts with apprehension:

"No mask for me! I feel suffocated just thinking about it! 

The dentist then changed his approach and offered a sedative in tablet form, adding a touch of humor:

"Here's a Viagra," he jokes, handing over the medication.

According to a study, this joke transcends cultural boundaries and appeals to a wide audience, regardless of age or gender. Richard Wiseman, the researcher behind this unusual observation, explains that the joke works because it allows us to feel superior to the clumsy hunter. An insight already explored by the French comedy group Les Inconnus in 1991 in their iconic sketch about hunters.
