Ingredients

  • 1 large bag of tortilla chips
  • 1–2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix)
  • 1 cup cooked protein (ground beef, shredded chicken, or beans)
  • ½ cup black beans or pinto beans (optional)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1–2 jalapeños, sliced (optional)
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • Sour cream, guacamole, and salsa for topping
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder or taco seasoning (if using ground beef or chicken)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    • 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or use an oven-safe dish.
  2. Cook protein (if needed):
    • For ground beef or chicken, cook with a little oil, onion, and taco seasoning until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Assemble nachos:
    • Spread a layer of tortilla chips on the baking sheet.
    • Sprinkle with shredded cheese, cooked protein, beans, diced onion, jalapeños, and olives.
    • Add another layer if desired and repeat toppings.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Top and serve:
    • Remove from oven and top with diced tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.
    • Serve immediately.
